None of us know exactly how long we’re going to be here, and that’s why it’s so important to live each and every day like it may be your last. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you should quit your job and go skydiving right this instant — but it does mean that you should find ways to seek joy in the smallest moments of your day-to-day lives. No story reminds us of this more than the story of Taylor Smith, a young girl whose life was cut short — but not before she left behind a message that proved she loved her life as much as she could while she was here.
After passing away from complications due to pneumonia, Taylor’s parents found something in her room that would be shocking for any grieving parent to see. Once they realized what it was, they were reminded just how amazing their daughter actually was — and how precious life is in general. See Taylor’s story below.
Taylor lived with her beloved family in Johnson City, Tennessee.
On January 5, 2014, Taylor died suddenly at the age of 12 from complications due to pneumonia.
Until that point, Taylor had been a happy, healthy pre-teen girl.
Needless to say, the loss of Taylor was a devastating blow for this family. It took some time for her parents to be able to go through her things.
When they finally did, they found something incredible.
Unbeknownst to them, Taylor had written a letter to her college-aged self. Her parents found this letter after her untimely death. It must have been difficult for them, but they decided to open it.
